The
Age of 25th
February 2003 reported that a draft master plan had been proposed for consideration
of Bayside City Council for the long-term large scale expansion of the
Brighton Boat Harbour, which is leased from the
Crown.
The
plan is said to envisage a doubling of marina berths, extra "hard
standing" (meaning more filling of Port Phillip), and a duplication of
the existing pier. A concurrent application from the lessee sought a 12.5% (30 metres)
extension of
the existing 240 metre rock boulder breakwater
dumped here in 1956.
