The President of Port Phillip Conservation Council Inc. today presented its documented suggestions to the Forward Planning Committee of the the Shire Council for some further improvements when he spoke to them in general support of the recommendation before them. The Committee was considering a Review proposal for improvements to the Council's existing policy on Boatsheds and Bathing Boxes. The Committee, of all nine councillors, debated two motions following his presentation. FIRST MOTION: The Committee resolved to adopt one change in wording suggested. That was to change the recommended wording regarding services to boxes such as power and water supplies from reading "Although existing services may be maintained, unauthorised new connections will not be permitted under any circumstances." to read "Although existing services may be maintained, unauthorised or new connections will not be permitted under any circumstances." SECOND MOTION: A further motion,
moved by Cr Bell, and seconded by Cr
Renouf, was that the suggestions made by the President
of Port Phillip
Conservation Council Inc. be included in the community
consultations in
April 2001. That motion was narrowly lost when
put to a vote, and a division
was called for. Those in favour of the motion were Crs
Bell, Renouf, Adam
and Plunkett, and those against were Crs Gibb, Graley,
Collings, Smith
and Goodrem. |
