Limeburner's Bay, estuary of Hovell's Creek, with extensive mangroves (Avicennia marina) near the southern extremity of their range in the world; and end of Hume and Hovell's historic 1824 walk from Sydney. Lt. Matthew Flinders RN walked in 1802 from a boat of HMS 'Investigator' to climb Station Peak, the summit of the You Yangs beyond (the granite outcrop 300 m high and 12 km due north). Nearly all the shore has a wide, vegetated set-back free of structures.  HOVELL PARK
